Author's Bio

I am a photographer, graphics designer, genealogist, and author with a wide range of interests. After discharge from the U.S. Army in February 1971, I wandered around from college to construction work, back to school, and then entered a life-long career centered in the high-tech arena. From computer programmer, to analyst, to trainer, to marketing, to consulting, to author.

I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, have lived in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Kansas City, Houston, Atlanta, San Diego area for 30 years, and now back in Wichita.

Military Wake-Up Call

I entered the U.S. Army in February, 1969. Enjoyed four months of rain, hills, snakes, swamps, and drill sergeants at Ft. Polk, Louisiana. I drew the ever popular 11B10 MOS: Infantry. Much to my surprise, I was assigned to a security platoon in a newly-formed missile detachment at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. After four months training in Ft. Sill, we deployed as a unit to Lager Lechfeld Luftwaffe Base in southern Germany. We had nuclear warheads, the German Air Force had the missiles.

Received orders in July, 1970 for Vietnam and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division in the Hue-Phu Bai area . The rest is history as they say.
